Morten Fruensgaard will take over as COO of Naviair on 1 January 2025. Morten joins the company from a position as Vice President and Head of Operational Support for En-route services at Avinor in Norway.

Morten has a strong leadership background and his training as an air traffic controller gives him great insight into the professionalism that is crucial in this operational environment. In his previous posts, Morten has also demonstrated strong collaborative skills and the ability to generate positive followership through involvement and an inquisitive approach to the perspectives of others. I very much look forward to welcoming him to Naviair and our executive management team.
Morten Fruensgaard began his operational career as a student air traffic controller with the Danish Defence 26 years ago, followed by time spent in the Netherlands and later Norway, among other locations.
His management career began at Avinor, where he has been responsible for areas including safety, security and contingency planning within the organisation, as well as auditing of quality, contracts, supply chain and security – in Norway, the USA and Canada.
In addition, Morten has been Corporate Chief Crisis Incident Manager for more than 10 years for an organisation that covers 43 airports, three control centres as well as infrastructure and services related to both ANS and airport operations, plus development of services and infrastructure.

I am very much looking forward to joining Naviair and getting to know the organisation better. I am especially looking forward to getting to meet all the skilled employees in Operations as well as to supporting the organisation’s focus areas in our drive to make Naviair even stronger.
Morten Fruensgaard is 46 years old and will be moving to Denmark to take up his post at Naviair.
